Product Reviews - Bacon & sausage - Neese's and Hormel Maple (new)

I HEREBY REVOKE MY BACON PRODUCT REVIEW THAT I DID LAST YEAR.  HERE IS THE LINK TO THAT REVIEW:

http://internationalfoodblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/neeses-bacon-review.html#.UW68RSqtM6g

Never heard of Neese's sausage until I moved South in 1990.  Now I wouldn't eat anything else.  The hot is our favorite. It makes Bob Evans, Jimmy Dean, Johnsonville and others taste like balls of grease.  Neese's sausage is the closest to homemade sausage that you can get and I have had some good homemade sausage from local farmers.  Have been eating Neese's sausage since 1990 and the taste and smell and appearance is consistent. This product in a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOWEVER, FIVE THUMBS DOWN TO NEESES'S BACON FOR THE FLAVOR. THREE (3 X) DIFFERENT TIMES WE HAVE BOUGHT THE BACON IT TASTED RANCID TO ME BUT MY HUSBAND BEING THE OLD FARMER THAT HE WAS AND IS SAID THAT IS
HOW OLD PORK TASTES.  I REMEMBER THAT WE HAD COUNTRY HAM THAT WAY A FEW YEARS AGO.  WE THREW IT AWAY.

 on flavor.

So we were shopping around. My husband bought Hormel's Back Label Maple Bacon. I was surprised but also anxious to try.  It did not hold up the the crispy test and the taste was not anywhere near what homemade maple tastes like. It did not crisp up like Neese's or other regular bacon.

We cook all of our bacon in the microwave on a slotted tray that you can see in my original review of Neese's.

NOTE:  WE HAD RECOMMENDED TO SOME OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS THE NEESE'S BACON SO WE WILL HAVE TO RETRACT THOSE RECOMMENDATIONS.  I AM DISAPPOINTED IN NEESE'S. THEY PRICE THEMSELVES ON QUALITY.
