PRODUCT REVIEW: Lean Cuisine Marketplace Spinach Artichoke Ravioli

Very disappointed in this product.

  • The Cheese Sauce:  said there was aged parmesan, romano and ricotta cheeses (on the side bar).  I doubt there was any "aged" parmesan nor romano as the sauce was bland like maybe it was only ricotta. BORING.
  • The yellow carrots - el blando
  • The green beans were too firm and not cooked enough and there were "too many" of them.  Like they were the filler.
  • The label said that there were garlic salt and onions supposedly included.  Cooked so much you couldn't tell they (the onions) were even in there.
  • There was sugar and brown sugar added.  Why so much sugar?  Probably to cover up the 680 mg. of sodium taste.
I like the idea but it could be better.  No sign of spinach unless it was in the ravioli.

I ate it but wouldn't buy again!!

INTERNATIONAL: SPAIN: Catalonia 10 PESCADORA SAUCE or SALSA MARINERA

Marinera aka Pescadora

This marine sauce (not to be confused with Italian marinara sauce which has a tomator base) is based on fish stock and includes white wine, onions and touch of parsley.

You might also see this sauce called pescadora. It is part of many soups and stews in the Spanish kitchen, such as:

FRENCH - My Homemade Ratatouille

Above - my collage

Saute peeled & chopped eggplant* in olive oil first to soften. Then add chopped onions and slices of zucchini squash cut into fourths. After semi-cooked add a can of fire-roasted tomatoes (or regular diced tomatoes), undrained & some Italian seasoning and a hint of garlic. Cook until ready. Serve with garlic bread or over pasta and grated parmesano-romano or parmesano-reggiano. Of, course, some red wine. Serves 2.

1 large or 2 small eggplants
1 large zucchini
1 cup chopped onions
Italian seasoning and garlic to your taste
1 regular can Hunt's Fire-Roasted diced tomatoes or Hunt's Petite Roasted tomatoes or ...

NOTE:  Can also add diced red or green peppers.
* If later in season peel and slice eggplant, shake salt onto all sides and drain in colander.  Brown juices will come out. Wipe salt and juices off before cooking.  The later the season the darker the eggplant gets.
